How to ride

How do you ride a snow scoot?

Snow scoot is the combination of a freestyle scooter, and snowboard. As with skis or snowboards, you steer and manage speed by turning the handle bar and shifting your weight, allowing the skis edges to carve a smooth line.

How do you stop?

You can slow down and stop by dragging one foot or carve a line as you would while skiing or snowboarding. You can also stop the snowpark scooter quickly by sliding the rear board outwards on its uphill edge.

How do you get on and off a chairlift?

Ensure your leash is secured to your leg or ankle. When the chair lift approaches, position the scooter directly in front of you. As the lift lifts you up, allow the handle bars rest on your lap and let the scooter hang below you. Cross your legs and ankles around the front of the Snowscoot and enjoy the ride. The snowpark scooter is small and light enough that you may also take it on your lap.

Can I ride it in a terrain park?

The snowpark scooter can be ridden in any terrain park that resorts will permit. Ride half pipes, rails, boxes, and kickers with ease, and of course, in control and as safely as possible to reduce risk of injury to oneself and others!

What kind of shoes do you wear?

Since there are no bindings, the scooter can be ridden with hiking boots or soft snowboard boots.

How do you ride safely?

Terrain Park Safety Program has Four Main Messages:

MAKE A PLAN
Every time you use freestyle terrain, make a plan for each feature you want to use. Your speed, approach and take off will directly affect your maneuver and landing.

LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP
Scope around the jumps first, not over them. Know your landings are clear and clear yourself out of the landing area.

EASY STYLE IT
Start small and work your way up. (Inverted aerials not recommended).

RESPECT GETS RESPECT
From the lift line through the park.

Can I put wheels on the snow scoot?

No. The scooter is specifically designed for use with skis and engineered to withstand the forces encountered in terrain parks. Although you may mount a front wheel on the fork, there are no dropouts at the rear of the deck to accommodate a rear wheel.

What maintenance do I need to perform on my scooter?

Just as we recommend for freestyle scooters, you should control the scooter before every session. All bolts and screws should be controlled to ensure they are correctly tightened. The headset should spin freely and without play. In addition, you will want to take your skis into a shop to have the edges sharpened and base waxed as needed.

How to control speed, brake and stop?

As the feet are not strapped onto the deck you can always put your feet down. The best way is to do like skiers and snowboarders do. Carve and stop.

What is a "snowpark"?

In the USA and Canada they are called “terrain parks” and Europe they are referred to as "Snowparks” or “Funparks”. These parks are specially prepared areas of a ski resort with jumps, half-pipes, rails and other features. Snowparks are like skateparks-for-the-snow and are the fastest growing segment of the snowsport industry at the moment.
